Today he personifies the state to people around the world. Certainly in my travels you come across someone from another continent, a person comes from New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was the top solo accomplishment after performing with a small group of folk musicians. It was written, co-written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff had written the song to imitate the style of Johnny Cash, but Denver had the opportunity to listen to an early version, and was certain it would become a top 10 hit. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a vast crowd, he recorded it just days later.
